Vos missions

EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is a subsidiary of Edvance, which is a joint venture between EDF and Framatome, established in 2018 in charge of the design and the realisation of nuclear islands for new projects in France and worldwide.

In particular, EPR-E is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for Hinkley Point C (HPC) project and preparing the design replication and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) Project.

At HPC we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.

For the SZC Project, work on the replication strategy and some early design studies are already underway and being delivered and managed from both France and UK

For the SZC project, we are currently looking to recruit for the role of Deputy Technical Director.

The SZC NI Project Technical Directorate (TD) role is to maintain and exert the technical authority of the project. To demonstrate full control of the SZC Nuclear Island (NI) technical integration, the TD set up the replication strategy on the NI scope, ensure the technical integration of the contributions from all disciplines, coordinate the project delegates within technical department, implement and deliver the overall engineering process.

We are looking to recruit a Deputy Technical Director to contribute to the management of activities performed in the TD by delegation from the Technical Director. He/she represents the Technical Director while absent or where delegation is provided.

The key duties and responsibilities of the Deputy Technical Director are as follows:

  • Contributes to the management of transverse technical topics in support to the senior architects and senior equipment lead.
  • Coordinates the execution of the project’s engineering studies and as such ensures that the delivery expected from each architect is clear and consistent
  • Contributes to the updates of the replication strategy getting support of the architects and ensuring the endorsement of the new revisions and the compatibility with the engineering tools.
  • Ensure, with the architects and equipment lead, the technical consistency and supports PMO, Cost Control and Schedule teams in line with the replication strategy.
  • Represents the project SZC at the technical meetings with the client on the perimeter agreed with the Technical Director.
  • Set up and chairs regular technical coordination meetings with the project delegates from technical departments
  • Chairs the weekly meeting with the senior architects and equipment lead in the absence of the Technical Director.
  • Chairs the technical forums set up by the project in alternance with the Technical Director.
  • Exert the technical authority of the project on the perimeter delegated by the Technical Director.
