EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is a subsidiary of Edvance, which is a joint venture between EDF and Framatome, established in 2018 in charge of the design and the realisation of nuclear islands for new projects in France and worldwide.

In particular, EDF EPR Engineering UK is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for Hinkley Point C (HPC) project and preparing the design replication and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) Project.

For the SZC Project, work on the replication strategy and some early design studies are already underway and being delivered and managed from both France and UK.

For the Sizewell C Nuclear Services Agreement (NSA) Project Directorate a position of Cost Controller is open.

The NSA Project Directorate team is leading the Consortium and is responsible for the overall project management of the NSA execution. It is composed of four scopes of work which are responsible for:

  • Technical direction
  • Project control management
  • Contract management
  • Quality management

On behalf of the NSA Project Directorate team, The Project Control office is responsible for monitoring cost, timely delivery and project execution in accordance and for the measurement of overall performance indicators. It provides to the Project Director global vision of the project to help for decisions.

The Project Control office manages several scopes:

  • Schedule management
  • Cost and change management
  • Project management office (PMO)
  • Risks and opportunities management

The NSA Cost Controller role is to consolidate the financial data of the Nuclear Services Agreement of the Consortium members.

The responsibilities of the NSA Cost Controller include:

  • The production of the reporting of the consolidated actuals versus the forecast for NSA costs, NSA turnover and NSA profit. This reporting is used by the NSA Project Director, SZC Co and other EDF Group stakeholders, especially the DIPNN Finance Department and the EDF Group Finance Division, when appropriate. The reporting should include the variance analysis.
  • The production of the forecast and actuals of the NSA cash flow.
  • The production of the NSA consolidated revenue in advance.
  • The production of the consolidation at NSA level of other related financial indicators: ETC (Estimate To Completion) and EAC (Estimation At Completion).
  • The consolidation of the data required to issue the monthly invoices.
  • The consolidation at NSA level of the annual reforecasts and of the mid-term plan expected by DIPNN Finance Department and EDF Group Finance Division.
  • The preparation with the NSA Cost Manager of the Consortium Costs Committee.

The NSA Cost Controller reports to the NSA Cost Control Manager.

The Consortium composed of EDF SA and Edvance is expected to provide the design of the two nuclear powerplants in the framework of the Nuclear Services Agreement (“NSA”) i.e., the contract that will be signed between the Consortium and the SZC Generation Company (“SZC Co” or the “Client”). The NSA is expected to be signed at the end of the first quarter of 2024.

The Sizewell C (“SZC”) project’s goal is to replicate the Hinkley Point C design to build two EPR reactors on the Sizewell site, located on the East Coast of England. The British Government aims at renewing the existing nuclear fleet to achieve its Net Zero objectives by 2050.

SZC will supply power to 6 million homes and will save 9 million tons of CO2 emissions for every year of operation. When operating, SZC will employ 900 people, in addition to the thousands of jobs needed for maintenance outages.

SZC provides the UK with a unique opportunity to develop a nuclear new build which is the ‘second of a kind’ and will demonstrate significant cost and risk savings from such an approach.
