Your missions

EDF EPR Engineering UK is a subsidiary of Edvance, which is a joint venture between EDF and Framatome, established in 2018 in charge of the design and the realisation of nuclear islands for new projects in France and worldwide.
In particular, EPR-E is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for Hinkley Point C (HPC) project and preparing the design replication and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) Project.

At HPC we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.

For the HPC project, an excellent opportunity has arisen for a Contract Engineering Lead (CEL) to support Handling equipment contracts across HPC and SZC scope. This is a valuable and technically stimulating opportunity to work within EDF EPR Engineering UK to support both Hinkley Point C (HPC) and Sizewell C (SZC) which are a vital part of the UK’s future energy strategy. As the first of the UK’s next generation of nuclear power stations, HPC is both of high profile and high complexity.
As part of the Responsible Designer, EDF EPR Engineering UK deliver the design of some of the Nuclear Island (NI) buildings for Hinkley Point C from their Bristol Office and will also replicate the NI design for SZC in the years to come.

As the Contract Engineering Lead, you will provide contractual and technical oversight of the contract(s), including the management and coordination of Technical Engineering Leads for each contract and managing the resolution of open points related to Design, Manufacturing and Qualification. You will be also responsible for keeping the contract at the configuration compliant with the project progress

In order to do this, you will work closely with the relevant disciplines in EDF EPR Engineering UK and Edvance France but also within the client and the suppliers to ensure the technical requirements are met.

  • Typical CEL activities include, but are not limited to:
  • Leading contract technical and project meetings
  • Technical surveillance and resolution of issues/queries
  • Review and approval of contractor deliverables and design where necessary
  • Control and Management of the evolution of the contract and design changes
  • Review and approval of contract amendments and exemptions (CTSs, ERs)
  • Manage the contract TLs and associated delivery scope, including task prioritisation
  • Resource and budget planning to ensure the requirements of the contract are met to time, cost, schedule and quality
  • Liaise with Responsible Designer (RD) and client teams to ensure integration of equipment with interfacing functions/systems
  • Liaise with Responsible Designer (RD and client management teams to communicate progress, risks, issues and planning to support contract delivery.
  • Reporting of KPIs to the ITB Equipment Manager and Sequence 5
