Site activities

The Old Forest Road site houses most corporate functions as well as engineers supporting the Fuel, Installed Base, I&C and Engineering and Technology business units. The I&C business unit for the U.S. operates its lab from this location. Also at this site is the Nuclear Parts Center, which provides 24/7/365 access to an extensive spare parts inventory, guaranteed stocking programs, supply chain management and technical support.

The Mill Ridge Road site is the hub of the U.S. Installed Base Services organization. This facility includes the 27,000-square-foot non-contaminated Technical Training Center housing classrooms, offices and full-scale mockups for reactor vessels, BWR tower and well, multiple PWR configurations and other heavy equipment as well as a dedicated steam generator mockup area – all to keep personnel, techniques and designs up-to-date in the face of regulatory changes and technological advances. The Outage Control Center also operates from this location, providing 24/7 support to nuclear plant personnel for planned and emergent issues.

The Mt. Athos Road site is home to the Solutions Complex, which comprises:

  • The U.S. Technical Center is a key resource for AREVA NP’s Integrated Procurement Solutions and extends its world-wide equipment qualification and commercial grade dedication testing capabilities to North America
  • The Pump & Motor Service Center provides repair, refurbishment and specialized resources to extend the life of critical plant components including pumps, motors and seals
  • The Contaminated Refurbishment Center provides contaminated machining, welding and fabrication to address utility maintenance challenges on the secondary side
  • The Chemistry & Materials Center supports plant reliability and performance with routine, emergent, and specialized chemistry, plus corrosion and metallurgical testing, and analysis support
  • Incore Fabrication – AREVA NP is a global leader in the design and fabrication of high technology systems such as our complete line of fixed incore detectors.
  • Storage Solutions (AMASS) offers a secure, environmentally-controlled facility where U.S. nuclear plants can safely and cost-effectively store and manage their contaminated equipment off-site
  • The Outage Equipment Support Centers offer welding, machining and fabrication services for contaminated and non-contaminated equipment and process systems, as well as radiologically-controlled work space for refurbishment of field equipment and utility components
