ACNS: AREVA NP’s subsidiary in China

AREVA NP operates in China through its subsidiary AREVA China Nuclear Services (ACNS) and through joint ventures with China General Nuclear Power Group (CGNPC), Dongfang Electric Corporation (DEC) and China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC).

ACNS China is a Wholly Foreign-Owned Enterprise (WFOE) with AREVA NP holding a 100% stake. It provides services and solutions for the design, construction, and operation of nuclear power plants.

Three service offers available through ACNS

  • ACNS Services: this segment is broken down into engineering for specialized projects including specialized maintenance, urgent repairs, engineering services, and plant modifications; and preventative maintenance including outage assistance, maintenance tools, and spare parts services
  • ACNS BNI (Balance of Nuclear Island): monitoring and diagnostics, waste treatment, and containment system
  • ACNS I&C (Instrumentation and control): I&C design and supply, upgrading and modifications, spare parts, and after sales services

Spotlight on ACNS I&C

ACNS I&C teams are located in Beijing and Lianyungang and supported by AREVA NP’s I&C experts. The team is currently involved in a number of activities, including: system design and upgrade, technical assistance for large projects, project and quality management, NPP outages, long-term operation contracts, and spare parts.

Responding to Chinese fuel demands

AREVA NP has a local fuel team that serves Chinese customers by understanding their fuel needs and forging long-term relationships. Using the AREVA NP know-how, expertise and advanced technology, the fuel team is able to respond to new demands effectively and ensure high performance and safety standards.

An extensive presence throughout China

AREVA NP’s representative office is located in Beijing (AREVA Beijing Technology) while AREVA China Nuclear Services’ (ACNS) head office and its engineering team are based out of Shanghai. The operation and training center is based in Qinshan. Technical offices are located in Fuqing, Daya Bay and Taishan, and the operation base is located in Yangjiang.

Taishan: a world first for Generation III+ reactors

AREVA NP is currently building two Generation III+ EPR reactors on the Taishan site in Guangdong province, China. The contract is the largest international commercial contract signed in civil nuclear history. Taishan-1, could also be the first Generation III+ reactor in operation in the world. This represents a major success for AREVA as it seeks to build the nuclear plants of the future in China and around the world.

AREVA NP (previously Framatome) has been present in China for three decades and has constructed the nuclear islands for the nuclear power plants in Daya Bay and Ling Ao, which have been in operation since the 1990s and early 2000s respectively.
